OOOOOOOOOOOK the internet is sorta having problems

So the internet is sorta down right now (I still can’t connect to AIM or some sites like yahoo.com from San Diego) etc.

Hang on and I’ll see if *I* can find any more details about it.

{I’m actually plugged right into our own network by the way}.

Update: it seems like something happened during an update somewhere near Chicago and it took a hard whack at Level3 and Verio. Even though right here, our network is Level3/AT&T/Sprint/UUNet, just about everything leaves Southern California via Level3 (they’re the only ones heading East).

So Fun! Fun!

But at least I’m sitting in a gateway with some nice networking people aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I’m likely to go get some tacos or maybe a breakfast burritos after this (the one with sausage AND bacon).

  1. Well, “The Internet” is a little too large, or US centric. I did saw the trouble with US sites, never got a single glitch on local (western europe) websites during the outage.

  5. I can’t help asking, is that a long ooook in the title, or a long OK? Pratchett readers will understand my thinking here.

  6. What’s it doing today? Still having intermittent problems on some US sites (including mine hosted there)

And how does one find out about Internet problems like this?

  8. Verio is headquartered in Boca Raton, FL (a couple of hours south of me), which is one of the hardest-hit areas by Hurricane Wilma. One of my mother’s favorite sites is hosted by them and has been up and down ever since.

  9. I’ve got a client in Boca Raton who has been frantic all week trying to get his business back up, using generators. They just got power back yesterday afternoon.
